Pittsburgh – My adopted hometown! I’ve lived here most of my adult life and it really is “home”. I’ve lived and worked in Pittsburgh for over 30 years and have watched it grow and develop from an old steel town to the shining jewel that springs up as you exit the Fort Pitt Tunnel or drive down any of the interstates heading into it. The city, nestled between three rivers, is full of surprises and experiences for just about anyone.
Pittsburgh has changed significantly over the last 30 years and has become quite the travel destination and “foodie” city. With James Beard award-winning chefs, creative restaurants, wineries and distilleries, there is never a lack of a place to eat, hang out and simply enjoy life.
I love having guests come to visit so I can show off “my” city. There is so much to do and see within an hour and a half drive that it is impossible to capture it all in one place but I’ll do my best!
My goal with this page is to highlight some of my favorite places to visit and things to do, centered around the area’s rich food history and up and coming foodie scene.
One area that is near and dear to my heart is the Pittsburgh Strip District. I’ve included a section on this page to capture some of my favorite places to shop or grab drinks or a bite to eat. “The Strip” has quite a history and one I’ll be telling soon in my upcoming book, “The Pittsburgh Strip District Cookbook“!
Stay tuned, and if you have favorite places in “the ‘burgh” that you’d like me to explore, send me a note!
