I’m behind in getting my garden in this year…but f

I’m behind in getting my garden in this year…but for good reason! I was waiting for this beautiful cedar planter to arrive and it came last week! I got it from @cedarplanters and love that we’re supporting a small business. It was worth the wait!

My wonderful hubby @markaliphotos put this together for me and said it was incredibly easy and well made. I coated the boards with tung oil to hopefully protect them against our Pittsburgh weather. Then lined it with the lining they provided and filled it with garden soil.

I’ve played with gardening in the past but the deer usually get to it before I can. And truth be told I also over do it and plant more than I can handle!

So, this seems to be the perfect solution. A good raised bed that will only allow me to plant a few things! It’s big enough for veggies for the two of us and I think I’ll be able to manage this.

2 tomato 🍅 plants
2 pepper 🫑 plants
2 cucumbers 🥒

I’ll probably add some basil and marigolds this weekend and this fall when the tomatoes and peppers are done will plant some lettuce 🥬 and arugula.

I use Honeycrisp apples 🍎 because they are naturally sweet and you don’t need to add any extra sugar. Just a little apple cider for a bit of liquid and 2 cinnamon sticks!
